What could be funnier than seeing full-on fights within the animal kingdom as we enjoy the various specialist skills of different species? This clip pits the cheekiness of the monkey against the power of the tiger and the results are extremely amusing. First off, there are two tiger cubs innocently play fighting somewhere deep in the jungle.

Then Mr Monkey makes his appearance,

reaching down from on high to tickle his foes, too intelligent to take on these vicious beasts one-to-one because he knows he’ll get owned. So for the rest of the clip he spends his time tormenting the tiger cubs. At around the 2 and a half minute mark, events go into warp speed with the monkey suddenly jumping incredibly fast between branches and stepping up its tormenting of the tiger cubs by springing down on a vine and swiping them with its hand. How very rude indeed! One of the tiger cubs reacts by leaping up to catch the monkey but it narrowly fails in its bid to end the torment.

There are some slo-mo shots of the monkey

moving with amazing lithe agility in order to escape the grasp of his enemies, the vines bending to near-breaking extent but the monkey always managing to get out of his tight spot. The last section of the clip is a game of furtive hide and seek, with the tiger cubs snooping around the jungle trying to locate the monkey who has found a safe spot up a tree. He just watches with a certain air of ‘you can’t catch me’ sorta arrogance. Bless him, he’s probably tired after all the excitement of the day and who could blame him for taking a rest? He’ll need to conserve his energy if he’s going to escape from the tigers.

The thrill of this clip is that if the monkey

makes one false move he’ll fall into the mercy of the tiger cubs who would tear him to shreds on their ‘home turf’ so to speak. So there’s an extra thrill to this as you watch it ‘cos in the back of your mind you’re worrying as well as smiling!

In Britain at the moment there is a nasty trend called ‘happy slapping’ in which (usually) bored teenagers video themselves on cell phone cameras randomly attacking members of the public. This clip shows how funny it is when the happy slapper picks on someone that won’t knuckle under and take it. Watch these cowards suffer some serious combos at the hands of someone who – far from happy slapping – has definitely had some boxing or martial arts training. The clip begins with two soon-to-be slappers seemingly in discussion about who their next target should be.

A young couple walk past and one of the slappers lashes out

at the female – can you believe that? That’s not funny, it’s terrible. What is funny is that her track suited boyfriend is out for revenge. He immediately lands some sucker punches on the faces and chests of these happy slappers, flooring the first one in several seconds before knocking the other one on to the pathway while the first gets up and tries to scram. Mr Track Suit only gives up when his girlfriend – the original victim – shouts at him to leave these happy slapping losers alone. I wonder what on earth would have happened to them had Mr Track Suit been allowed to finish them off. This might have become the first fatality recorded as a result of happy slapping, and ironically the happy slapper would have been the victim!

So the slappers are left not particularly happy

and unlikely to reoffend without being a bit more careful about who they take their anger out on. Obviously the person filming the fracas was on the side of the happy slappers but he (or she – let’s not be sexist about who is sick enough to film this stuff!) must have thought he was on to comedy gold when the happy slapping didn’t go to plan and Mr Track Suit got violent, because, as you can see, he kept recording and now this clip is up there for posterity as both a warning to all potential happy slappers and sheer entertainment for those who aren’t.

Being small doesn’t mean you can’t be tough, as Napoleon and this clip prove. Two midget boxers, no taller than four feet deliver some kick-ass moves, slamming each other into the ropes, kneeing each other in the groin and grabbing each other by the throat. Even though both boxers are midgets, the one in the red shorts clearly has a height advantage over the other – perhaps he really belongs in another weight category? But that doesn’t mean the smaller of the two can’t punch above his height and his weight, ultimately knocking his opponent out at the end with a stunning 7 punch combo.

The boxer in the red shorts shouldn’t feel too aggrieved.

Because he lands a few kicks that sends his antagonist literally flying backwards several feet! The audience appear to be sat at a bar drinking. Maybe some of them thought they’d overdone it and were hallucinating when these two midget fighters entered the ring. It’s clearly a popular pastime as there are plenty of spectators and photo flashes going off. And there’s no shortage of inventive moves to record: at near the 2 minute mark, the smaller boxer does a magnificent handstand and then kicks his opponent in the face, creating a side-splitting moment that wouldn’t be out of place in the silent movies of Keaton or Chaplin. But the move also has a strategic effect, sending the taller boxer painfully onto the floor with a nasty wince on his face.

If the way these small guys fight is funny.

Then their haircuts are equally so. The one in blue has a kind of skinhead with a dreadlocked pony tail leading down the back. Maybe this is a psychological tactic to make his opponent laugh so much that he is unable to put up too much of a defense. It’s certainly a novel idea and one that was perhaps taken on by pretty much any sportsman around in the 1970s – THE decade of bad hair. Anyway, despite the hardcore attitude, these boxers seem pretty sportsmanlike and friendly. Maybe someday they will be really ‘big’. Heh heh.

This is a very weird and funny sight because you don’t see this kind of thing much anymore: amateur bareknuckle fighters swinging at each other until one of them collapses. Towards the end the crowd start to intervene, hurling abuse at one of the men, like he hasn’t got enough to worry about already with a broken nose and smashed-up face! Even more laughably, there is even a referee adjudicating this chaos, as if rules are necessary in this all-out fight to the last.

As you might expect, this bareknuckle boxing

match-up is nothing like the movies where men can take a good pasting and keep coming back for more. When one of these irish gypsies runs in for a flurry of punches, they look like they damn well hurt and his opponent smarts backward as you would if someone had smacked you a few times on the chin. There is a brief problem towards the end of the clip when the fighting men refuse to shake hands and are lambasted by their coaches for it. This show of gentlemanliness hardly makes sense given how these guys have been punishing each other for the last 8 minutes. Although bareknuckle boxing was banned in the USA in 1889 and other developed countries around the same time, this clip proves its popularity especially given that a pretty large and vocal crowd has gathered to spectate and/or place bets.

At the conclusion of the clip we get an up close

and personal look at one of the men and, as you’d expect, it’s really not pretty. One of his eyes has completely closed up, his cheeks are black with bruising, his ears have been more or less flattened and his lips look like they have been ripped inside out, washed through with blood and then sewn back together again. You wonder whether he’ll stick at this grueling occupation or maybe try his hand at something less painful like… chartered accountancy. If he had good looks before this fight then it’s doubtful he still has them now. Ouch.
